It is not hard to find a hotel in New York, as there are plenty of them. You can choose from a variety of prices, from budget hotels to exclusive New York luxury accommodation. When I was in Manhattan, I lived near Times Square and I assure you, you will never get bored in this area.
Firstly, the skyscrapers: walking in the streets is just amazing because of the numerous skyscrapers you can stare at. It was really impressive. Concerning architecture you will find a lot of different types. To get an idea of the imposing height, you should definitely not miss to visit the Empire State Building. An advice? You should go early in the morning as the queue is very long later.
Then, have a walk in Central Park. It contains the Central Park Zoo and the Central Park Conservatory Garden. They are amazing.
After that, go down along the Broadway to the south and do some shopping: There are lot of original shops. For lunch, it would be a shame to eat in a hotel in New York. I would advice you to go to Greenwich Village, there are a lot of small and good restaurants. Of course you do not have to walk all the time as you can use the subway, but in New York City, you totally should walk and let the spirit of the "City which never sleeps" charm you.
If you are a fan of Chinese food, why not to visit Chinatown? It makes people feel like being in a different country. Chinese New Year is so amazing, you should definitely see that. Do you like music? The Madison Square Garden will please you with its numerous concerts. Do you play chess? Try to play against another player in Washington Street or in Central Park. You may lose but it is a funny experience.
Eventually, you will find a helicopter tour, which is not that expensive, near the bay. You can fly close to the Statue of Liberty and have a view over New York City that will take your breath away.
To stay a hotel in New York is like if you could visit several cities from different countries at the same time.
